The state of Maryland – short description:
Maryland is famous for its white, sandy beaches in Ocean City, the bustling harbor of Baltimore and Chesapeake Bay’s miles and miles of shoreline that separate the Eastern shore of Maryland to the rest of the state, the Chesapeake Bay Bridge links the two lands.
Annapolis is the state’s capital, home to the United States Naval Academy; its port is also one of the ports of call during the Volvo Ocean Race. Baltimore is another important city, just 60 km away from Washington, DC, with its Art Museum and American Visionary Art Museum.
For some history visit Frederick and tour the Civil War sites, this town boasts charming brick buildings and parks, and is an excellent place to relive the regions history.
The Camp David Presidential Retreat, near Thurmont is where all the US presidents go in retreat, and although the entrance is restricted to the white house officials, the landscape around the area offers beautiful landscapes at the Catoctin Mountain Park
The weather in Maryland is hot and humid during the summer and mild in winter with frequent rain.
